Plusle is a cheerful and supportive Pokémon, always encouraging comrades in battle by using the spark pouches in its cheeks, it shorts out its body to create the crackling noises of sparks to show its joy. It is very compassionate towards its friends, and is known to cry upon witnessing a friend lose a battle. They are commonly referred to as cheerleaders for these actions. MINUN (Valentine's Day)

312 / MINUN - Pokémon Papercraft
Name:
Minun

Species: Cheering Pokémon

If its partner is in trouble, this Pokémon gives off increasing amounts of sparks. Minun's stats are geared towards defense whereas Plusle's stats are sweeper-oriented. Growlithe

Species: Puppy Pokémon
Height: 0.6 m (2'04")
Weight: 19.0 kg (41.9 lbs.)

They are often honored in statue form; found in pairs in front of Chinese or Japanese households. They are the protectors and guardians of the home. Growlite have a powerful sense of smell to identify the emotions of others; upon getting a scent, it will not forget it, no matter what. It uses this advanced sense of smell to determine the emotions of other living things. Even though it includes the word in its name, and is based on a dog-like creature, Growlithe cannot actually learn Growl. It evolves into Arcanine via Fire Stone.

Their shrieks will warn all Pokémon in the area of any possible danger. Sentret has a very nervous and cautious behavior, constantly fearing for its safety. It never lives alone - while one member of its group sleeps, another watches out for danger. Sentret evolves into Furret starting at level 15.

MANTYKE

478 / MANTYKE - Pokémon Papercraft
Name:
Mantyke
Type: Water/Flying
Species: Kite Pokémon
Height: 0.9 m (3'03")
Weight: 65.0 kg (143.3 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: Like its evolved form, Mantyke looks like a manta ray. On its back is a pattern with two red spots with white outlines and a white curve underneath, which resembles a happy face. Mantyke appears to be quite friendly. It is the only Pokémon so far that needs another Pokémon to be in the party in order for it to evolve. Mantyke's catch rate of 25 means it is actually harder to capture than Dialga and Palkia (30). It evolves into Mantine by level-up and with a Remoraid in the party.

THE PAPER MODEL
Height: 18.0 cm/7.1 in
Width: 21.6 cm/ 8.5 in

No. of Pages: 4
No. of Pieces: 46
Level: Medium
Designer: PMF

NOTES: This is a relatively straight forward build, as long as you follow the numbers on the pieces. You must build in this outwardly radiating manner to achieve the correct shape (trust me, I build this critter three times!)

Mini Pokémon Birthday Cakes

We at Paperpokés,
Have had some birthday cake, yum!
Would you like some too?
Papercake Haiku by Skelekitty

To celebrate the release of all our teams' birthday cakes, we would like to finally share them with you. We hope you enjoy them as much as we have. Just one note to remember, these are all very, very small Pokémon models (~8cm tall - the candle is even smaller!) and they can be extremely difficult and fiddly, but totally worth the effort!

RIOLU

447 / RIOLU - Pokémon Papercraft
Name:
Riolu
Type: Fighting
Species: Emanation Pokémon
Height: 0.7 m (2′04″)
Weight: 20.2 kg (44.5 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: Riolu are sensitive to a special type of energy called Aura. Riolu's evolved form, Lucario, can use these waves to attack, or study these waves to predict the movements of their opponents, and use them to track anyone. However, Riolu does not have the ability to fully use these powers, although it can still emanate these waves to communicate and sense them - albeit only in "ripples" as opposed to the "waves" of energy its evolution can sense and guide. Most notably, it cannot learn Aura Sphere or Detect naturally, two moves that Lucario learns that are often attributed to its aura powers. Like almost all Fighting-type Pokémon, Riolu naturally has superhuman strength, stamina, and endurance and is capable of making long journeys on foot in a short amount of time.

THE PAPER MODEL
Height: 19,9 cm/7.8 in
Width: 11,9 cm/ 4.7 in
Depth: 14,3 cm/5.6 in
No. of Pages: 4
No. of Pieces: 49
Level: Medium
Designer: Brandon
Photo: Lyrin
NOTES: This model is pretty straightforward, just follow the numbers on the template while building it. Using the pdo as reference will help a lot. It doesn't stand without a weight inside: I rolled a small scrap piece of paper and glued it inside Riolu's chest (front) in order to make it stand.

SNORLAX V2 (Giant version)

143 / SNORLAX - Pokémon Papercraft
Name:
Snorlax
Type: Normal
Species: Sleeping Pokémon
Height: 2.1 m (6'11")
Weight: 460.0 kg (1014.1 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: Wild Snorlax can be found sleeping in inconvenient locations throughout Kanto. Many Snorlax only awaken once a month, spending their waking time finding more food. A hungry Snorlax is not very picky, and will eat anything and everything that is edible, and it isn't satisfied until it consumes 900 pounds of food. Then it goes back to sleep. If one ever sees a sleeping Snorlax, he or she should not wake it up, because these Pokémon become very grumpy if their peaceful dreams become interrupted. It evolves from Munchlax via Happiness.

THE PAPER MODEL
Height: 45.0 cm /17.7 in or 20.0 cm / 7.8 in
Width: 53.2 cm / 20.9 in or 23.6 cm / 9.2 in
Depth: 39.7 cm /15.5 in or 17.6 cm / 6.8 in
No. of Pages: 36 or 9
No. of Pieces: 106
Level: Medium
Designer: PMF
Photo: Skelekitty
NOTES: PMF and I have always loved Snorlax - we can totally relate to it's lifestyle :P - so when I asked for a GIANT sitting version, PMF didn't hesitate.

I did initially build the giant 45cm high model, but I accidentally printed the template out on the wrong weight paper (120gsm instead of 200gsm) and consequently the finished model was too fragile, and buckled out of shape under even the slightest pressure - much to the enjoyment of my 3 year old. So rather than print out all 36 pages again, I downsized it to 20cm, knowing that the template was buildable.

We have provided both sizes in the download packs. It's a straightforward build: remember to print the giant version on heavier cardstock, start at the head, and work your way down in rings - follow the numbers of each piece - close at the soles of the feet. We have also included the Burger and Wiimote accessory =p

METAPOD

011 / METAPOD - Pokémon Papercraft
Name:
Metapod
Type: Bug
Species: Cocoon Pokémon
Height: 0.6 m (2'04")
Weight: 9.9 kg (21.8 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: Metapod generally remain motionless and is unable to do anything other than harden its outer shell. It bears more resemblance to a chrysalis - its soft body is protected by a hard outer shell while it undergoes a metamorphosis from it's first evolution to it's third. While this shell is said to be as hard as steel, a large sudden impact could cause its vulnerable body to pop out, leaving it completely exposed. Metapod is tied with Kakuna, Silcoon, and Cascoon as the weakest evolved Pokémon in the games, by average base stats. It evolves from Caterpie starting at level 7, and it evolves into Butterfree starting at level 10.

THE PAPER MODEL
Height: 14.0 cm/5.5 in
Width: 11.4 cm/ 4.5 in
Depth: 20.4 cm/8.0 in
No. of Pages: 3
No. of Pieces: 30
Level: Easy
Designer: POdragon
Photo: Skelekitty
NOTES: Whist this is a relatively easy model to build, it is crucial that special care is taken to ensure that the valley folds are made. For this reason, the template has been split into more parts than actually necessary (for those attempting to build the lineless version, or for those that own a Mac). Follow the numbers on the pieces.
